Tigerscheme Qualifications Recognised by Buying Solutions

Tigerscheme – a not-for profit organisation which provides a means of independently certifying the skills of vulnerability test (penetration test) engineers has been listed in Buying Solutions’ Code of Connection for GovConnect Secure eXtension (GCSX).

The national procurement partner for UK public services, Buying Solutions aims to maximise value for money obtained by government departments and other public bodies through the procurement and supply of goods and services, including ICT.

The move is great news as Chris Meehan, Tigerscheme Chairman, explains: "We are delighted that Tigerscheme is now covered by the definition of approved qualifications. Buying in penetration testers can be an expensive business for organisations such as the NHS, local authorities and government departments who have a regulatory obligation to ensure the ongoing integrity of their IT systems and the security of data stored on them.  Gaining this recognition to train in-house IT staff to carry out penetration testing provides a much more cost-effective solution and we’ve developed specific entry level training courses with Local Government in mind. Not only will it save money, but it will also enable vulnerabilities to be detected earlier and treated swiftly and efficiently. It will also help organisations to focus penetration testing services which are contracted in to obtain better value for money"

As well as providing training and assessments for penetration testers, the organisation has also recently launched a new Forensic Investigator qualification, as part of its expanding portfolio of professional qualifications.
