Tigerscheme Benefits

For the Individual - Click Here

Tigerscheme provides a way in which skills and experience can be formally recognized, and is more than a statement of previous work, or a reference. Skills assessments leading to certification are rigorous, and are based upon academic standards. The range of certifications on offer will continue to expand, as the Scheme works with the Examining Bodies and Technical Panel to meet market demands.

Increasing levels of certification means that your capabilities can be tailored to your role; supported by a Training Provider infrastructure, penetration testing and forensics qualification no longer need to on be a ‘one size fits all’ approach.

Individuals considering entering the CHECK Scheme can demonstrate that they possess the necessary practical and theoretical skills.

In comparison to other certifications, Tiger does not apply a theory-only approach, other than at the entry level. We and our partners believe strongly that the demonstration of an ability to apply knowledge successfully, is a key element in demonstrating value to employers and customers.

For larger companies, Tigerscheme offers a long term relationship option, whereby the costs of maintaining a skill base to offer to customers can be reduced, through adopting a planned approach.

Structured training is available from recognized partner companies.

The Scheme is managed by a team made up of individuals from a wide spectrum of Industry and Government. The Management Committee welcome suggestions, and where there is a high level of commitment and involvement in this area, companies have the opportunity to become directly involved in the strategic management of the Scheme.

Tiger offers certifications at the level of the individual. However, the Scheme was designed from the outset to be flexible, and to be applicable to in-house teams as well as larger and smaller service providers.

As a result, companies looking to reduce external expenditure on bought-in skills can plan to develop some or all of those skills in-house, through a structured programme of training and certification. Tigerscheme certifications can be adopted ‘as is’ in order to quickly create a pool of certified expertise which the company can draw upon. Because the certifications are also widely accepted elsewhere, and are aligned with Government standards, individuals can be brought into the pool on the basis of known credentials.

The Tigerscheme also offers courses for the organization. These are at the Associate and Qualified levels. The Forensic First Responder awareness, course is an Associate level course intended to bring employees up to a basic level of awareness of computer forensics, and the requirement not to disturb evidence which could be relied upon at a later date. The corresponding Qualified level course will allow an organization to build up intermediate level skills in an individual or group of individuals, so that basic forensics can be undertaken in-house rather than on the basis of bought-in skills. The Qualified level course can also be combined with an assessment at that level, leading to individual certification under the Tigerscheme.

Certified Tigerscheme testers are provided with an ID card that can be used to check credentials and training history online.

Within the buyer organization, Tigerscheme Associate level courses on Penetration Testing Theory and IT Health Check Management can be used to raise the awareness of individuals used to support and procure external testers. The ITHC Management course in particular, available directly from Tigerscheme Training Providers, will allow the buyer organization to effectively manage the specification, procurement and management of technical vulnerability assessments. This course has been designed specifically to maximize the benefit to be gained from the employment of specialist external skills in this area, without having to go to the expense of a full training programme and the use of dedicated staff.

The Scheme has also examined a number of other options, including offering a basic reliability check and a check on insurance cover for the individual or organization. These services would provide some additional assurance; however, our position is that these issues are central to the buying process, and vary between organisations. At this time, the discussions we have held with buyer organisations indicate that these checks are performed by the organization itself, and that therefore, they offer little benefit when packaged with a certification of technical and professional skills.

Joining Tigerscheme as a Training provider means that the courses you offer have been assessed and are considered to be aligned with the standards enforced by the Scheme.

Tiger welcomes proposals for new areas of training, and where appropriate, certifications could be developed on a commercial basis for public offerings.
