What is TIGERScheme

The TIGER Scheme provides a means of independently certifying the skills of vulnerability test (penetration test) engineers.

The Scheme is managed independently by a Management Committee comprised of industry stakeholders with a vested interest in maintaining standards and in meeting market requirements.

The three main strengths of the TIGER Scheme are: independence; a University-based examination; and strong end-customer involvement on the Management Committee.

The Scheme provides career progression for professionals in the computer and network vulnerability testing industry, by creating a structured approach to demonstration of skills and specialisations. Qualifications are awarded on the basis of examination, through a practical assessment carried out by an independent Examination Body.

The technical and professional standards enforced by the Examination Body are derived from the advice of a Technical Panel made up of independent experts. The Technical Panel acts on behalf of the Management Committee, and ensures that the examinations conducted under the auspices of the scheme are both relevant and reliable.

The Management Committee has also contracted with an Operating Authority to manage the booking of examinations. The Operating Authority reports directly to the Management Committee and is subject to oversight by the Management Committee.

In order to maintain independence, the contracts with the Operating Authority and Examining Body are not unique, are time limited and are subject to review.
